Chemical Identity

It is valuable to determine an item’s chemical identity because the chemical identity is the sign of how an item is composed. How the substance is changing would be through the elements in groups that has a chemical identity. I know this because when a chemical is alternated from a previous substance can make a change by the addition to the chemical. This means the identity of the chemical that included a previous group of elements, would be in a new form. I know this because in accordance to any chemical identity as a result, it would mean that the beginning product was important information based on what the chemical had contained. As a result, this means that chemical identities are the roots of further on chemical substance identities from the starting point of just an element.

Mid Year SLC 18-19: Early civilizations taking pictographs in gym

What I thought:

My preparation for SLCs has improved over the years in the sense that I’ve began to show in more depth the work that I’ve done over the semester, rather than previous years where it was more of a general update and it was more of an overlook on my work.

The Work:

Displaying IMG_2234.jpg

The early civilizations project was very important to me because it gives insight to how much we learned this semester, and how I worked collaboratively with my peers over these few months.

My photo series definitely shows insight into our hard work in Chemistry and what we’ve been doing for the past few months. It shows how much effort I put into my photographs and how serious I took this project.

My performance for Musical Theater highlights my days upon days of vocal work, and rehearsals to make this performance near perfect. My partners and I worked on this ensemble for literally weeks and I definitely want to show my parents clips of it.

My workout plan is something I would love to show my parents as I’ve been working very hard on my body so it can be healthy not only on the outside, but also the inside. My parents have been noticing muscle gain in my body and it wouldn’t make me any happier than showing them what has been triggering this recent change.

  1. I’m going to pull up this video once I begin teaching them the teaching piece.
  2. I’ll draw my own graph on graphing paper and draw one for my audience so we can follow along
  3. I’ll test my audience through a well thought out random polynomial to measure their learnings

Honoring my purpose:

This learning experience honors my purpose for being in school, by reminding me that all my hard work always pays off, and that my final products will always motivate me to keep up my work ethic and strive for my goals. Planning to teach my family members brings attention to my future goals of becoming an educator.

Looking back to look forward:

This semester, the only thing that has been an obstacle towards my goals and purpose is procrastinating, one of my worst enemies when it comes to school work. Reflecting upon the semester and teaching someone my learnings will help me really grasp upon what has been happening these past few months as well as show me all the hard work I’ve been doing and the impact it has on me.

Mid-Year SLC 2018-19: Cameras and Creative Writing

What I Thought

This will be my third ever student led conference and the first of my sophomore year. I feel more prepared for this SLC than ever before, I know what to expect and what to present. In past year, I only really showed work I felt proud of or did well on, but this year, I want to show work that I thought was unique, no matter how well I did on it. I think this is a better reflection of my learning, because I am not a perfect student and I don’t want to pretend like I am one.

I want to show this project because I thought it was a really unique, fun

End of Year SLC Blog Post

A recurring challenge I have had this 9 weeks have been with writing. This past year in EngWHAP, we have always been writing at the beginning of each class, or having a brief reflection on an activity or book. Me and a selected partner wrote a poem in two voices, emphasizing two sides of people, called “Light and Darkness.” This poem challenged my partner and I to use adjectives describing a certain side of a person. The product really showed us that using our resources in literary terms could always help create a breathtaking poem.

The challenge first occured to me with my mind feeling empty trying to write my side of this poem. Even thinking of a topic to write about was one of the hardest parts to get this done. I talked with my partner about two sides of people that could be written about, and our minds were blank.

What had happened was the first idea of brainstorming different ideas. We both wrote down to comparing things we could write a beautiful poem on. With help of our english teacher, we had narrowed down our list. We decided that “Light and Darkness” would be the perfect topic to compare and contrast in a poem form.

I now meet the challenge of deciding what to write about by first writing a list of ideas on what to write a poem or story about. Brainstorming has changed my perspective of writing because it helps me even with adding a good amount of detail, which has also been something to always work on.

My SLC will have this Light and Darkness poem. I will include a document of the two sided poem, explaining its meaning in the detail that I plan to improve on. My next subject will be my chemistry nutrition plan, explaining how certain ways of nutrition with my family would help improve the health of all of us, and make a good balance of certain eating habits.

I will then show my most challenging drum cadence from band, which was played at battle of the bands.

Mid-Year SLC

What I thought

My preparation for SLCs have changed, by my resources used. In 8th grade, I had used paperwork, and have not been as prepared as the most recent student led conference. My feedback has contained questions personally about my experiences with the subjects I have presented.

The Work

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1fbNZjoUPoaqZ8Kl47GpovJM5lvawFXw94OLJDa6VC34/edit#slide=id.g4a30f1c837_0_1

This is a google slideshow of my SLC presentation. This is important because all of my digital artifacts will be presented with additional information. I enjoy this idea, because instead of gathering many documents and artifacts, it would be easier and more organized to have my whole presentation in one simple link. This is an example of how I would like my future presentations to be put together.

Now, look at a photo of a building that showcases how it is defined as modern architecture. Buildings downtown have different architecture styles. What building downtown do you think includes Gothic architecture? This hellps reflect what I have learned by showing what I have learned and explaining it.

Honoring My Purpose

This learning experience has helped my purpose at school, by giving me something to re-teach and reflect on, giving closure and a further understanding on the work I had done, and teaching my work to someone else, concerned about what I have been working on.

Looking Back to Look Forward

I change on what I have acted towards learning by changing my learning behavior, as cognitive dissonance for achieving a better way of doing my work. I work to change my learning styles to become a better, organized and diligent student. Showing my work and explaining the work to be more understandable, makes the importance of reflection for these subjects, core and non-core to be something to look forward to at these checkpoints of the year.

Bizarre Bazaar reflections.

During this project I encountered the problem of finding specific details/facts about my product, like the celebrity endorsement. I solved these issues by researching even beyond the Strayer book, and going on to use reputable sources like the MET essay informational section for Buddhist art pieces.

For me the finished product was the most satisfying part of the whole project. Just seeing my vision come almost perfectly to life made me so happy. If I had more time to build my tent I’d be even more satisfied, but considering the amount of time and the fact that it was a mini project I’m pretty happy with my finished product.

Overall my project was different than other people’s because my process was first purchasing/making my product, and then creating graphs, maps, and coming up with the slogan, celebrity endorsement and the rest, for me I wanted it to be a very natural process, kind of like a real life scenario, in that a real merchant wouldn’t come up with a campaign or set up without having their actual product, because after getting the product everything else comes naturally for businesses.

If I could re do this project over again I would use more color on my tent. My tent was a bit plain in my opinion in that it just had a title and the rest of the facts and information on my product were implemented in my sales pitch.

English History civilizations Blog Post Minerva Palacios

What I originally thought about the idea of the Mayan and the Inca civilization was that the Mayan civilization was tied to the Aztec civilization, in their cultures.

How I created my museum was by using these artifacts of the Mayan and Inca culture, was by investigating their customs and traditions, by value.

I created my museum this way, to easily understand the uses of these artifacts in the Mayan and Inca culture, also giving a useful and compelling way to see opposing ways of life styles. I had met the standards of consistent facts resembling that this has relations to my learning of how different cultures have similar, different, and shared cultures, for example, the Mayan flute.

I could change the aspect of this learning by the certain artifacts chosen in its detail explained in different ways. Now i think about the word civilization is that there are many different ways that civilizations are made up with cultures’ aspects in the time periods, values, and traditions o  the way people live, not just by stereotypes.

September in EngWHAP: Day by Day, in Ancient Greece

“There are two things a person should never be angry at, what they can help, and what they cannot.” ~ Plato

What I Thought. Originally I thought the word “civilization” was only a word created by snobby conquerors as a way to differentiate them from those of lower standing. Quite frankly, I refused to go abide by this bias and leaned more towards a evidential approach to that argument.

The Work. By doing so,it helped me create my museum in a way that not only made sense to me but also made it a more fascinating conversation piece. I started with a rough draft then continued to a final draft that was easily approved by my group members. It was a two piece vertical board that had a cut out containing pillars of ancient greece, a header with golden laurel wreaths that parenthesized our chosen civilization and lastly our layed out 6 artifacts in front of it.

I created my museum in this way because it not only seemed to have some easy to spot elements of ancient greece but also had factors that played into eye catching appeal for public interest. Such as the white and navy blue as a color choice in order to depict the actual greece flag, the pillars to add a wow factor and the overall size to stand out.

Overall I believe I met standard for the assignment but may have exceeded it by going overboard on my crafting skills. It may seem strange to give myself this rating even though I did more of the intended work than my teammates but even so I still feel as if some aspects were more worthy of met standard than an exceeded. An example of this would be timing, layout, work ethic and instruction. These key factors played out throughout the project as my teammates and I were put together as a result of Greece being our level of interest but also because we wanted to develop our time management skills, which in all honesty were lacking beforehand. As we progressed I made sure to keep all on schedule and help on instruction, which on that part I would give myself an average standard. After all was said and done my face ached from smiling and even so I could not believe we got our time management out of the way but I personally felt I needed to work on cohesion and organizational skills.

Honoring My Purpose.  Aside from that strangely I believe that this relates to me being at school by portraying my admiration for art and perfectionist standing. All jokes to the side I really strived to incorporate my passion for art and attention to detail in not only the artifacts but in the essay, board and presentation as well.

Looking Back to Look Forward. For this reason I believe that if I could change anything during or after the assignment I think I would have hoped to have added more images and outer source connections to my print outs. I say this because during my discussion with each person, my explanation felt quite vague. Almost as if, it needed an outer source or further detail into some of the writing, in order to really have the person be invested. All things considered, I realize now that personally the word “civilized” means the credibility of a groups standing based on achievements in social, political, environmental, cultural and economical action in order to further back up their civilized or uncivilized manner.
