Dear Advanced Learning Academy Families,

With the month of July coming to a close and our attention turning to the new school year, I am writing today to share several updates. 

Although, we announced our new ALA Euclid Associate Principal, Gabriela (Gabby) Joseph to the ALA community last May, it is my pleasure to once again welcome her.  Ms. Gabby comes to us with experience teaching kinder-5th grade dual language in Austin and San Antonio, as well as several years as a bilingual specialist and assistant principal.  Ms. Gabby joined the the ALA faculty in June for professional development as we began planning for the next school year. She is looking forward to meeting families at our upcoming back to school activities. 

This Saturday, August 3rd, all PK-12 families are invited to an ALA Uniform Swap from noon-2pm at ALA Euclid.  All uniforms will be accepted and sorted by size and available for students to take home.  Families do not need to bring uniform pieces in order to pick up items. If you are bringing uniforms to share, or if you would like to help sort and organize, please arrive at 11:30 AM. If you have any questions, you may email Ms. Gabby at ajoseph2@saisd.net

Looking ahead, on Tuesday, August 6th, 2019,  ALA at FT (4th-12th) will host a Back to School & Potluck Event from 3:30-7:00 pm. Grade-level informational sessions will be held at 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm in various locations depending on your child’s grade-level. The sessions are identical, so families only need to attend one. Outside of these short 45 minutes presentations by your child’s teachers, families will receive general information related to the upcoming school year.  

On Thursday, August 8th, 2018,  ALA at Euclid (PK-3) will host a Back to School & Potluck Event from 4:30-6:00 pm. Families are invited  to stop by the school anytime between 3:30-6:00 pm to meet your child’s teacher and receive information about arrival, dismissal, lunch, transportation and daily schedule information. Families may also drop off school supplies. This is a come and go event. 

Also on Thursday, August 8th, from 5:30-6:30pm in the theatre, our ALA theatre department will host an information session on the important theatre  events for the 2019-2020 school year.  We will also introduce the newest members of our theatre faculty!   The evening will cover the audition process and sign-up, travel and field trip information, and parent production committee responsibilities.

    1. Since there is construction still taking place on the ALA FT campus, we are not sure if we will be able to accept school supplies on Tuesday, April 6th. As we get closer to the date, we can let you know. If depends on how much access we have to the 3rd floor on April 6th.

      I will make a note to include information about middle and high school sports in next week’s update!
