Community Update: Sunday, September 8, 2019

Sunday, September 8th, 2019

Dear Advanced Learning Academy Families,

This week many ALA students are out in the community visiting the Toyota Manufacturing, Institute of Texan Cultures, Friedrich Wilderness Park,  San Antonio Zoo, and Mission Reach, all experiences tied to the unique ALA curriculum. In order to fund all 19-20 teacher designed and requested field trips, we are seeking contributions to the ALA Field Trip Fund at the SAISD Foundation. The tax-deductible donations will be used to fund costs associated with field trips for all students at ALA, PreK-12th grade, all of whom will be taking field trips during the school year.

Teacher and soccer coach, Jennifer Koppe, asked me to share that there will be an Academy League (7th/8th) parent/guardian grade soccer meeting on September 18th at 6:00pm in the campus cafeteria.  Girls soccer season will begin on October 7th.

As a reminder, if your son or daughter is absent from school, please send a parent or doctor note within 48 hours of the absence as stated in SAISD policy.  You can send the note with your student, or you can email the excuse to our attendance clerks (Euclid campus: Melissa Rodriguez-, Fox Tech campus: Marian Halderman- The notes help the school maintain accurately coded attendance records for your child. Thank you for your assistance and adherence to the 48 hour policy.

Looking ahead, students at ALA FT will have their individual pictures taken on Tuesday, September 24th. This will be a free dress day for our 4th-12th students and our seniors will take their graduatio photos!  Families may visit Lifetouch Photography to access a preview of picture packages available using the ALA specific Picture Day ID: XY209060Q0.

Finally, our 4th/5th grade students are selling Paletas this month after school at ALA FT. Look for them in the courtyard of the garden from 3:50- 4:15. Paletas are $1. The proceeds will be used for supplies and materials for their Wonder Courses. Thanks for your support!

Have a wonderful week!
