Dear Advanced Learning Academy Families,

On Monday, November 1st, 2019, the online application for the Pre-Kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade lottery for the 2020-2021 school year opened, and will close on Friday, January 31st, 2020. Lotteries will be conducted for new to ALA Pre-K, 6th and 9th grade students. Current ALA students do not need to submit an application to retain a seat for the 2020-2021 school year. The names of prospective kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th grade students (non-lottery grades) may be added to existing waitlists during this application window via the online application as well. This 2019-2020 ALA Application and Recruiting Overview provides more detailed information about sibling enrollment, informational sessions, timelines, and a FAQ.  Families may reach out to Jennifer Barber, Senior Coordinator of Operations, at with questions.

On Tuesday, our K-1 students will be hosting a Transportation PBL Exhibition on Tuesday, November 12th, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the Euclid Campus.  Students have been exploring the driving question: “How can we, as problem solvers, continue to improve transportation?”  Families and community members are invited to join us. Student projects will be displayed in the gym. Many current forms of transportation will be available for student and visitor exploration.

On Wednesday, November 13th, we are holding a required pre-trip parent/guardian meeting at 5:45 pm in the cafeteria for the families of our 7th grade students, who will be traveling to H-E-Butt Foundation Outdoor School in Leakey, Texas, from December 4th-6th. While at the camp, students will participate in outdoor adventure activities such as kayaking, hiking, high ropes, and much more! Our 7th grade team will share an overview of the agenda, review medication procedures, explain the packing list, and answer questions.

Next week both ALA campuses will host our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon.  The ALA Euclid Thanksgiving Luncheons are November 19th, 20th, and 21st. The ALA FT Thanksgiving Luncheon is Thursday, November 21st during your child’s regular lunch time, listed HERE. Please use this Thanksgiving Luncheon Form to RSVP no later than Friday, November 15th. The luncheons are a special time for families to gather and to reflect on everything for which they are grateful. Cafeteria lunches are $3.90 (cash only & please have exact amount). Please make plans to arrive early, sign-in at our front office and receive a visitor’s pass. For more information, contact Veronica Orta, Parent and Family Liaison, at

The day after the last Thanksgiving Luncheon at our Euclid campus, we are hosting our  4th Annual ALA Euclid Fall Festivalon Friday, November 22nd. Students are invited to create game booths to showcase during the event. If your child will be creating a booth, please fill out this form, so we can ensure we have enough space for all student projects.  We would love to have parent volunteers help on the day of the Fall Festival.  Volunteers will help with set-up, festival supervision, and clean-up. Please email if you are able to volunteer or with questions.

Thank you to all of the families and students who participated in our school musical,  Beauty and The Beast this past week.  To all of the parents and grandparents who provided or made costumes, bought concessions, dinners, doughnuts, coffee and snacks, volunteered in the box office, chaperoned dressing rooms and backstage entrances, ushered the performances, and drove your child to and from the theatre for weeks, we are grateful for your community spirit and your dedication.  We also want to thank our dedicated theatre teachers, Amy Stengel, Max Estudillo, Kim Bianco and Nico Champion, for their hard work!

Auditions for our spring shows are coming up!  If your child is interested in the middle school UIL One Act Play, the high school UIL One Act Play or the Spring Show, for grades 6-12, please see this audition flyer for details.

Congratulations to our chess club who took 1st place in the tournament during  last weekend’s competition. We are excited that Academic UIL preparation will be beginning soon across both of our campuses. Please look for more details in an upcoming message about how your child can be involved!

Finally, our senior class is selling ALA hoodies! When submitting the order form and payment, please make sure that every section of the order form is completed, especially the receipt portion which you will take with you to verify your transaction.
