Dear Advanced Learning Academy Families,
This Friday, January 31st, marks two important ALA related deadlines! Friday is the deadline for current sophomores and juniors to apply for a week-long field experience in Puebla, Mexico, at the Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP) from July 12th-18th. Seats are still available and students are encouraged to apply right away. More details can be found HERE, and students may complete the short application using this UDLAP Application Form.
The 2020-21 Choice Application window also closes on January 31st. Lotteries will be conducted for new to ALA Pre-K, 6th, 9th and 10th grade students. Please remind friends and family to submit their application by the deadline! Current ALA students do not need to submit an application to retain a seat for the 2020-2021 school year. As a reminder, if a sibling would like to be considered for sibling priority in the lottery grades (PreK, 6th, 9th and 10th only) an application must be completed online by the deadline, and the currently enrolled sibling information must be stated on the application and continue enrollment at ALA for the 2020-2021 school year. Sibling priority does not guarantee admission.
On Tuesday, February 4th, we will be hosting an ALA High School Information Night from 6-7:30 pm in the ALA @ Fox Tech Library for current students and prospective 2020-2021 freshmen along with any other community members who would like to learn more about our high school program. Students and families will have the opportunity to learn more about college credit, internships, field and travel experiences, elective classes, athletics, our global design focus, PBL and much more! Please see this flyer for more details about the event.
Our ALA Euclid students have been hard at work on the latest issue of our newspaper, Gator Times. The January issue of the Euclid Newspaper highlights our most recent PBLs and includes student editorials. Enjoy!
Picture day at Euclid is coming up this week. On Friday, January 31st, the Euclid campus will take their class pictures. Students are able to wear free dress for picture day. Order forms have been sent home, but you may also order online at https://lifetouch.com/ using the code EVT993Q6Z. Please reach out to Andrea Castillejo at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Coming up on Saturday, February 1st, our middle school theatre students will be performing the play, The Poet and the Rent by David Mamet, at Burbank high school (1002 Edwards, SA, TX. 78204) for the middle school UIL festival event. Our students are the last to perform. The time is approximately 4:30pm; however, get there early as the shows run back to back to determine time. Updates on time will be made on the ALA and CAST Theatre Production Page throughout the day. Best of luck and break a leg to our middle school acting and tech students and to Mr. Estudillo, the director.
Finally, congratulations to our 7th girls cross country team who brought home this 1st place trophy at this weekend’s race. Best of luck to all our runners this season!
Have a great week!
